
A tornado watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for 33 counties in Virginia through 10 p.m. tonight. The watch also includes the District of Columbia, Maryland and West Virginia.
Strong storms Sunday afternoon and evening may bring hail, flooding and isolated tornadoes. Localized damaging wind gusts are possible up to 60 mph, according to a report from AccuWeather.
The tornado watch includes Augusta and Rockingham counties as well as the cities of Staunton, Waynesboro and Harrisonburg.
In Central Virginia, the watch areas includes Charlottesville, Fredericksburg and the counties of Albemarle, Greene, Nelson, King George, Orange and Spotsylvania.
The watch area also includes Northern Virginia, Northwest Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland and West Virginia.
Severe weather is possible through Tuesday. Drenching thunderstorms with the potential for flash flooding is forecast for Tuesday.
